貴方と踊りで未来をデザインしたい！
I want to design the future with you through dance!
In 1985, during a cultural mission to the conflict‑torn Middle East, a staff member told me:
“We are not going there to show dance. We are going to design the future between Japan and the Middle East.”
Those words transformed my understanding of dance.
I came to believe that dance is not only an art form that crosses borders, but a force that connects people and shapes our shared future.
I began studying Japanese dance in childhood and started teaching in my teens.
As a young dancer, I served as a dance instructor for Akira Kurosawa’s film Dreams, working as part of the production team. Through that experience, I learned that artistic expression is never created by one person alone—it is born from the collective spirit and dedication of many.
Later, my encounter with stage director Sadao Fuseya—who produced performances for artists from more than 70 countries—opened the door for me to work on productions with dance and music companies from over 30 nations.
Through these collaborations, I witnessed how people of different cultures can come together to create a single stage, and how the arts have the power to connect us beyond nationality or language.
At the same time, I experienced the challenges of mutual understanding that arise from cultural and value differences.
Yet whenever performers shared the same rhythm on stage with the simple wish to “bring joy to the audience,” hearts aligned beyond words. I have seen that moment again and again.
In 2005, I founded Folk Dance Group NIPPON, guided by the belief that:
“Dance is a universal language. When we dance together, dialogue begins.”
In 2023, to help heal the social divisions deepened by the pandemic, I launched Asia‑Ren, a collective of dancers from across Asia.
What began with 5 dancers from 3 countries grew into a circle of more than 300 dancers from 13 nations, expanding into “Future Lab: Festival × SDGs” and the Asian Folkdance Ensemble.
In March 2026, these efforts were recognized as contributing to peacebuilding, and our organization became the first group from Japan to be listed in the Music in Peacebuilding Hub Directory.
The name NIPPON carries our wish:
“To exclude no one, and to share the heart of Japan with the world.”
Through dance, I want to design a sustainable future together with all of you.

1985年、戦火の続く中東への派遣公演で、同行スタッフからこう言われました。
「踊りを見せに行くんじゃない。日本と中東の未来をデザインしに行くんだ。」
この一言が、私の舞踊観を根底から変えました。
踊りは国境を越えるだけでなく、人と人の未来をつなぐ力を持つ——その確信が私の原点です。
私は幼少期から日本の踊りを学び、十代の頃には舞踊の指導を行っていました。
若い頃には、黒澤明監督作品『夢』で舞踊指導として制作に参加し、表現は多くの人の想いと力の中で生まれることを学びました。
その後、世界70カ国以上の舞台を手がけた演出家・布施谷貞雄氏との出会いを通して、
私は30カ国以上の舞台制作に携わりました。
異なる文化の人々が一つの舞台を創り上げる過程で、
芸術が国や文化を越えて人をつなぐ力を持つことを実感しました。
しかし同時に、文化や価値観の違いから生まれる相互理解の難しさも経験しました。
それでも、舞台の上で「お客様に喜んでほしい」という想いが一つになった瞬間、人は言葉を越えて心を通わせることができる——その場面を何度も見てきました。
2005年、私は民族舞踊集団 NIPPON を設立しました。
踊りは世界の共通言語。一緒に踊るとき、対話が始まる。
この理念を掲げ、活動を続けています。
2023年には、コロナ禍で分断された社会をつなぎ直すため、アジア各国の舞踊手による「アジア連」を立ち上げました。
3カ国5名から始まった小さな輪は、13カ国300名へと広がり、「未来ラボ 祭×SDGs」「Asian Folkdance Ensemble」へと発展しました。
こうした取り組みが評価され、2026年3月、私たちは Music in Peacebuilding の Hub Directory に日本の団体として初めて掲載されました。
NIPPON という名前には、「誰も排除しない。日本の心を世界に届けたい」という願いが込められています。
私は、舞踊活動を通して、皆さんと持続可能な未来をデザインしたい。
